1. Fuel Conditioner

To eliminate condensation in your fuel tank and fuel lines, apply fuel stabilizer to a full tank of gas. First, thoroughly fill your tank with gasoline and add a stabilizer according to the manufacturer's directions. Most manufacturers recommend 1 ounce of stabilizer per gallon of petrol. Start the flusher motor for around one minute to drive the treated gas throughout the system.

2. Fogging Fluid

Fogging oil should be applied to the carburetors. Most engines include fittings for fogging oil. If yours does not, you must seek for gaps to fill with oil. You may need to remove the carburetor lid as well. Remember that the fogging oil will cause the engine to smoke more than usual during the first few runs.

3. Flushing

After that, disconnect the flusher and empty the gear case. Fill it up with new lubrication. Water in the flushed lubricant might indicate that your shaft seal needs to be changed. If you believe it does, act quickly. If left alone, a faulty seal might cost you $1,000 or more in repairs.

Remove the spark plugs and spray the cylinders with fogging oil. Clean the housing and apply anti-corrosion spray to the electrical connections. Replace worn spark plugs with fresh ones.

6. Batteries

Remove your batteries and clean the terminals with anti-corrosion spray. Store the battery properly and remember to charge it for a couple of days per month.

7. Motor

Recover the motor by storing it in a downward-slanted, running state. Avoid using a plastic cover since it can trap moisture against your engine. Instead, cover the engine with a linen or canvas boat tarp to enable it to breathe.

8. Trailer

Inspect and lubricate all of the trailer's bearings. Examine the tires and spray anti-corrosive on any exposed iron.

Now that you've properly stowed your boat, you can finally relax and fantasize about all of the fishing legends you'll undoubtedly inspire in the following season. And, with all of the maintenance completed, you may be ready to hit the water before your friends even bring their boats out of storage.
